v0.1.0 (the BIG one)
Thank you so much to everyone who played our game during the GMTK Game Jam 2024! We have just released a massive update that fixes almost all major bugs/issues with the original submission, as well as adding several quality-of-life changes and updates. The original submission can still be found in the "Downloads" section, for posterity. You can also view the GitHub repository here. See below for all the changes from this update:
New Features:
- Rebalanced all waves for a more sensible/progressive flow through the game
- Updated the tooltips for clarity and usefulness
- Added an Options menu with audio sliders to Main Menu and Pause Menu
- Took measures to make the "Scale" bar and build/upgrade costs clearer by highlighting costs on the Scale bar and updating wording across the game
- Added a short tutorial to the first time the player opens the Pause menu
- Added a "speed up" button to toggle on/off a fast-forward gameplay mode
- Updated the Cannon tower to more clearly represent it's bullets' range and trajectory
- Added a red effect to the "place tower" preview to indicate if hovering over an invalid surface
- Reworked towers and enemy damage ranges to improve balancing and scaling
- Enabled all towers' area-of-effect to increase with their scale level
Bugfixes:
- Overhauled the enemy pathing setup and AI logic to prevent the various bugs with enemy AI in the original release
- Fixed various minor bugs with the level's path area
- Fixed various UI scaling issues throughout the game
- Fixed some waves showing the tooltip UI even when there is no tooltip
- Fixed the Ricochet tower sometimes overlapping onto the road (somewhat - this can still happens sometimes. A proper fix was deemed out-of-scope for the Game Jam version)
- Fixed audio levels so all towers are now audible
- Fixed various bugs with the Cannon Tower
- Fixed an issue where the "B" button would not close the shop after opening
- Fixed a bug that would allow you to un-pause the game with ESC when in the Buy menu
- Fixed a bug where Inferno tower bullets would scale up when they shouldn't
- Many other minor bugs!
